Evansville, Indiana is home to the Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden. Located on Mesker Park Drive and spanning over 35 acres, the park offers a wonderful natural escape from urban life.

As one of the oldest zoos in the United States, it was founded by African Americans during segregation as a way to enjoy nature and wildlife in their own community.

The grounds are also home to a Nature Center that provides educational programs about local ecology and conservation. To add to its historical significance, Angel Mounds State Historic Site – an archaeological site built by pre-historic Native American cultures several centuries ago – lies right next door.

The European settlers who followed made use of this area’s natural habitat for agriculture and recreational activities like hunting, fishing and hiking.

Today, visitors can explore native wetlands while admiring exotic animals including red pandas, jaguars and pink flamingos! Enjoying these views with your family or friends makes for an unforgettable experience at Evansville’s Mesker Park Zoo & Botanical Gardens.

With so much beauty surrounding you in such an accessible location, what else could you ask for? Let’s wander over now to check out another beautiful part of town: Reitz Home Museum!

We had a very fun-filled day at Mesker Park Zoo! The kids really enjoyed the feeding experiences (penguin and giraffe) and the carousel! There were also a few fun areas set up to take fall photos. I wish all the animals had been available to view though. Many were inside even though it wasn't a cold day.

This is a great zoo for a small city. It is so shady with many mature trees and plants. Not every exhibit will always have an animal present but that is just zoo life and things happen and animals need care. It is so clean and the staff are all great. They are very professional and knowledgable. Evansville is so lucky to have this gem. Love the penguin exhibit.

Stopped here on our way home to stretch the kids legs for 45 minutes before jumping back into the car... wow! way bigger than we expected! Spent 3 hours unexpectedly. Lots of cool animals that aren't at our home zoo in Milwaukee. The otter tunnel was our favorite part, followed by INDOOR carousel (because winter).

Great museum for kids! Lots to do with many great interactive exhibits. A few repairs needed (biggest was the ball return in the Quack Zone) but with so much to do, my kid’s didn’t know.
My child and my niece had a great time at the museum! They have 4 3D printers that the kids can take home a small printed piece both of mine came home with about 3 each. I like that they have many different things to do and have fun and creative ways to let the kids express their imaginations, creativity, and play acting! Defiantly recommend for children

Visited on a Thursday during spring break. Steady traffic all throughout museum. $10 to get in per person. Had a 4, 5 year old and two adults. Three stories of activities and learning opportunities. Every floor easily has 100+ activities/games from train table, exploring water works, painting, reading, climbing and tunnels, to doctor station complete with life size operation game and all the doctor tools. Plenty of pretend play options like kitchens to make tacos, salads, picking a garden, operating a farm stand and so much more. While there were several activities out of order, we didn't have any trouble finding enough to do to occupy ourselves for 4+ hours. Staff is friendly and helpful, only downfall is they could be sanitizing things as they walk around. This is our second visit and we will come back again and again.Accomodations:*Free parking two short blocks away, or paid parking closer.*Wheelchair accessible throughout as there are elevators that take you to every floor.*Lots of space for wheelchairs/walkers/gait trainers to manuver about.*Many texture options for other impaired with audio options on several activities.*Clean building, old but not dirty.*Bathrooms on every level.*Birthday room available for rent*Walking distance to other down town activities*Hand sanitizer scattered throughout, especially by highly touched areas like beads, digger activity on main floor.*Mask recommendation but not required, staff do mask

A lot if stations are not functional in the museum.. many items are broken or outdated. My 6 y.o. was somewhat enjoying CME. I think this museum will have "wow" effect on kids 3 years of age and younger.. Overall, if you have been to the children's museum of Indianapolis- than this museum will not be interesting at all..

Part of the preschool group, we saw and learned the difference between mushrooms, lichens and moss. We saw a turkey vulture, an American eagle and some beautiful hawk's. We could've pet the turtles or watch them being fed. Then, the EVPL came to host storytime with cute puppets. This was better than imagined. ❤❤❤❤

Super cool place for kids and adults who want to be kids. They have a bunch of information about nature for teaching kids. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. My children enjoy the playscape and the classes and activities offered in the summer. I would highly recommend this place for anyone but especially for children under 10. BE WARNED!!!! Your children may come back dirty after playing at the playscape, pack towels and perhaps a change of clothes. It really is a lot of fun.

One of the best venues. It has an easy access location, and is also connected to a hotel, which is super convenient. There is free parking a block away, usually with events going on, there is a little bit closer parking for $10. Food is a overpriced, but that's expected at any venue. Can purchase beer. Has multiple concessions and merchandise all throughout the building. If you want merch, it's best to go before or during event; usually by the end almost everything is sold out or they are already taking everything down. Ford Center has numerous workers so if you need help it's easy to find someone. Masks are required just recommended. Clear bag policy, and for nonclear I believe the dimensions can be found on their website or facebook page. On their facebook, they post quite a bit about upcoming events and info/what to prepare or expect when attending an event. Doors open an hour before the start time of event. This is also a super clean venue. I've been going numerous times a year and have never seen any litter. Arriving, entering, during and leaving goes smoothly and quick. After events cops usually help with traffic and even if you do get stuck in traffic, it's not very long!

If you live outside the Louisville area and don't know, you can use the Second Street Bridge in Louisville or the Sherman Minton Bridge in New Albany to cross the Ohio River. Those two routes are TOLL FREE. It might take a few minutes longer, but the positive is you don't pay tolls and don't have to deal with Riverlink. Your welcome

There's no way to pay the toll online before the charge gets to the car rental company if you are renting a car. So you have no choice but to pay the extra fees. Riverlink is probably getting kickbacks from American traffic solutions. Anyone who lives in Kentucky and Illinois should contact their politicians

This was very confusing and annoying. We crossed this bridge for the first (and only) time taking an alternate route on vacation. We were using a rental car and just received an invoice for about $40 due to service fee from the rental company. I would rather not have a toll at all, but wouldn't mind so much if I could just pay $4 at the time instead of $40 an entire month later due to lack of transparency and poor communication. We actually liked this route better at the time, but are obviously livid now and won't be using it again. We spend a lot of money on road trips, but don't worry - we'll be spending it in Ohio next time. 🙂

This bridge was recently reformed into a one-way Bridge due to the fact that the Abraham Lincoln Bridge was built right next to it going in the opposite direction. As a result, there is a toll to cross these Bridges now, but it is well worth the cost for the convenience and the beautiful view..

Shoppers, please be aware that the Beauty Bar in the mall is permitted to scam and steal from customers. Although they have gotten many complaints filed with the BBB, the Beauty Bar is still in operation. They will sell you an expensive beauty product, but then pull the old switcharoo trick, sneaking a cheaper product in your bag. Read your receipt carefully and be aware that you cannot return or exchange the fraudulent item. This experience has made me wonder about the integrity of other businesses at Eastland Mall. I will not be shopping there and I hope that others do not have the same experience as I did.

Great little mall with a wide variety of stores. It was a nice walk from one end to the other with no problem navigating where to go. There are "walking" (ie. 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile) markers if you're going to get your steps in and directions to stores are clearly marked. But my favorite is just meandering around perusing storefronts and watching the carousel in the food court go around. I'm a kid at heart 😁

Me and my babies drove over 10 hours it was more like 11 in a half. When we got there it was great easy to find the cabin that was rented for our family reunion. The Pool was closed the first day because of rain but the next day of the reunion all of the kids went to the Pool and had a blast. The cabins and park are clean and well kept I have always loved going to Burdette Park and I'm glad my babies got to enjoy it like I done growing up.

Victory theater in Evansville Indiana is the perfect place to hold a quaint, not over large group of patrons who want to enjoy the beautiful entertainment that's being brought to their establishment. Each time I seem to enjoy the choices I've made more and with the utmost delight. I will continue to go to the Victory theater to listen to the beautiful music and philharmonic orchestra.

Beautiful historic theater in downtown Evansville. They have popcorn, nachos, and hotdogs, basic stuff, plus wine and beer that you can bring inside the theater. This isn't a movie theater, it's more for live shows, though they do have screenings as I watched a movie with a live Q and A with the cast when I was there last. Close to nearby restaurants if you want to do a dinner and show thing. They are pretty strict about what you can bring inside, so just check before you go.

This is an interesting place. Classic old school diner not too far from the airport. It is located in an industrial area that looks like it can be a bit of a rough area so be alert. Food was good and the place was packed with a crowd that was over 60. Probably 40 people there. The staff was super friendly and on top of things lightning fast.

Stopped on our road trip from St Louis to Bowling Green. We had the BLT club and the macaroni with beef casserole. Fries, onion rings, and coleslaw for sides. Food was delicious! Excellent value for the price. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely worth the stop! Highly recommend.

Excellent food for the average Joe. Service was great as well. The only downside is the location and the age of the building, but hey, it's got history. The place was neat and clean. Parking was easy.

The food here was super delicious. Only part i didn’t like was the bottom bun was a bit soggy. Other than that, it was great. The fries had the perfect amount of crunchy to them. Staff is nice and respectful. Will definitely return here again.
